What is Panic Disorder?

When a person start getting panic attacks more frequently, and even with new or more symptoms, then it can be said that the person is suffering from panic disorder.

  • Due to some family problem.
  • Personal problems.
  • Health problems.
  • Panic attacks can be trigger at once, without any reason in some cases.
  • Decrease level of serotonin hormone in the brain.
  • Genetic : If a person’s loved ones or any other members of the family has any history of panic attacks, then that person has almost 4 to 8 times chances of getting panic attacks too.

  • Palpitations

  • Heavy breathing or hyperventilation

  • Hypoglycaemia

And can be many other depending on person to person. It may possible for a person who is suffering panic attacks, to not feel all of the symptoms. Still it can be Panic Attack if you feel at least 4 to 5 of the symptoms.

More importantly, one should keep this in mind that if you are feeling any of the symptoms mentioned above, that doesn’t really mean that you are suffering panic attacks. There are some other health problems also, like heart problem or thyroid problem, which have symptoms  same as the symptoms of Panic attacks. So before getting into any perception or any type of conclusion, you must visit a good doctor who can end your dilemma about your health condition and give a concrete answer.

Things that can increase the frequency of panic attack:

  • Smoking
  • Drinking alcohol
  • Having an anxious temperament
  • Excessive need of assurance

Is Panic attack curable permanently? Panic attack

Honestly, the answer to this question is NO. But mainly it depends on the reason that trigger panic attack. For example, if a person gets panic attack at a particular place only, then one should avoid to visit that place. Then it will decrease or end the chances of that person’s panic attacks. But, if it not triggered by anything in particular, then all you can do is follow the tips given below, to reduce the chances of panic attacks as much as possible. Sometimes, after completing a full course of medication and treatment, it may possible that the person will not get panic attacks ever. But possibility may exist. Moreover, it depends on person to person.

Tips or remedies to follow while having panic attack
  1.   Smile : Yes, I know this is the most difficult thing while having panic. But trust me, it is the most beneficial thing also. Just try it out, at least for once, and you will be surprised. Actually, while having panic attack, our body and its muscles contracts and our heart beats faster. This leads to brain thinking that something bad is happening to me. But if you smile or laugh, if possible, then it signals your brain that everything is fine, nothing wrong is happening to me. This, will automatically helps to release your muscles from contraction and make your heart beats normal.

“ Try difficult solution, to make life easy”.

  •  Splash water : If possible, splash some water on your face, as it may help to get back your senses and minimize the affect of panic attack.
  •  Breathing exercise or Kapalbhati :  The most difficult thing during panic attack, is to get back your senses. For this, just do breathing exercises whenever possible, but especially while having panic attack. Practice 4 – 7 – 8 breathing technique. In this, just breath for 4 seconds, hold the breath for 7 seconds and releases the breathe for 8 seconds slowly. I know its easier to say, but hard to done. “Yes, these task seems difficult until done”.
  •   Don’t ask, just accept :   The most painful thing a person do to himself or herself is to ask questions like — Why all this is happening with me? Will I suffer more panic attack, frequently? This type of questions not only lowers the confidence level but also make the person more suffer. So Don’t ask questions, just accept whatever is happening. Whenever such questions troubles you, just  encourage yourself by repeatedly Saying “ It’s ok, It’s just a symptoms. I am all fine. And if there is something bad, I am strong enough to handle it”.
  •  It will pass : While having panic attack, just make believe yourself that this kind of attack you have suffered before, that was passed. And this one will pass too. Just be strong.
  •  Aromatherapy : It is to be believed that aromatherapy really helps in anxiety. So, whenever you want to go out, put some drops of lavender or chamomile oil in your handkerchief. Whenever you feel anxiety, just smell that handkerchief. The soothing effect of the essential oil may helps to relax your mind and muscles. Thus, helps in anxiety.

  • Find a peaceful spot
  • Focus on an object to prevent yourself from losing senses.
  •  Keep motivating yourself that you are not alone. Everyone face such conditions in their life and they fought back. You can too.
  • Just go for a walk whenever you feel stressed. And while feeling so, do one thing for sure i.e. don’t think anything.
